Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
1. Who handles your information
THELADLE.SHOP LTD, company number 16808357, operates TheLadle and is the controller for information used to run this website and fulfil course purchases. Contact us about privacy at Contact@THELADLE.online or Audley House, 13 Palace Street, London, England, SW1E 5HX, United Kingdom.
2. What information we use
- Contact and billing details: name, email, billing country, address, city and postal code supplied at checkout.
- Purchase information: product, amount, currency, date, payment reference/status, refunds and related communications.
- Technical information: IP address and approximate country for country selection, and technical/device information used by hosting or payment services to operate and secure the website.
- Messages and access information: information you send us and information needed to arrange your course access.
Full card numbers and card security codes are collected by Stripe’s payment interface, not stored directly by this theme. We receive payment references and confirmation information, and may receive limited billing or payment-method information needed for support, refunds and disputes.
3. Where information comes from
We receive information from you at checkout or when you contact us, from Stripe and payment-method providers when a payment or refund is processed, and from the technical services used to run the website. If country detection is enabled, your IP address is used by the configured location service to estimate your country. This is approximate country detection, not device GPS location. You can correct the country before paying.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Contract: processing your order and payment, arranging course access, providing purchase emails and support, and administering cancellations and refunds.
- Legal obligations: keeping necessary accounting records and responding to lawful requests.
- Legitimate interests: operating and securing the website, preventing fraud, resolving complaints and disputes, and offering a convenient country/currency selection. These interests are balanced against your rights.
- Consent, where required: optional marketing communications or non-essential tracking. Paying for a course is not consent to unrelated marketing.
Your name, email and the billing details required by checkout/payment providers are needed to process the purchase. Without the necessary information, we may be unable to take payment or provide access. Do not send us card security codes, passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
5. Who receives information
Information is shared as necessary with Stripe and the payment provider you choose, website hosting/security providers, email-delivery providers, the course platform used to supply access, professional advisers and authorities where required by law. We share information appropriate to their role. We do not sell your personal information.
Stripe and providers such as Klarna may also act as separate controllers for payment, fraud prevention or financing decisions. Their terms and notices apply to those activities. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy and the notice presented by your selected payment provider. Contact us for details of the hosting, email, course or country-detection providers used for your purchase.
6. International processing
Some service providers operate internationally and may process information outside the United Kingdom or your country. The applicable provider notices describe their locations and transfer arrangements. Where we arrange a restricted international transfer, the applicable data-protection safeguards must be in place, such as a recognised adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for details or a copy of the safeguards relevant to your information.
7. How long information is kept
Purchase and accounting records are generally kept for six years after the end of the relevant company financial year, or longer where tax rules, an investigation or a legal dispute require it. Access and support information is kept while needed to provide the course, resolve requests and meet applicable legal obligations. Pending payment information is kept as needed to complete, reconcile or investigate the payment. Technical records follow the relevant provider’s retention settings. We review whether records remain necessary.
8. Cookies and browser storage
The checkout uses browser session storage to connect a payment return to its verification request. Stripe and WordPress/hosting services may use cookies or similar technology for payment, security and essential operation. Browser controls can remove or block storage, but doing so may prevent checkout or payment-status display from working correctly.
Optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking must be disclosed and controlled separately where required. This notice does not treat a purchase as consent to such tracking. The cookies and providers actually enabled on the website determine which additional notices or choices are needed.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law and the basis for processing, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on it, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Right to object: you may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your situation. You can object to direct marketing at any time.
Email us to exercise these rights. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity. Some information must be retained for legal obligations or claims, so deletion is not always possible. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, and to your local supervisory authority where applicable.
10. Payment decisions and updates
This checkout does not itself make automated credit decisions. Your payment or financing provider may use automated fraud or eligibility checks under its own notice; contact that provider about its decision or contact us for purchase support. We may update this notice to reflect changes in our services. The date above identifies this version.
Country selection at checkout
We use approximate IP-based location to suggest your checkout country. You can change the suggested country. Where a configured GeoIP provider is unavailable, your browser makes a country-only lookup with IPWhois (ipwho.is), which receives your IP address as part of that request. We do not request precise device location or send your name, email or address to this lookup service.
